In the Kyiv region 20 hectares of forest burn in the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Extinguishing a fire is complicated by increased background radiation in some areas.

In the Chernobyl exclusion zone, on Saturday, April 4, a large-scale forest fire began. According to the State Emergency Service, about 20 hectares of forest are on fire near the village of Vladimirovka Kotovsky Forestry.

According to the agency, more than 90 firefighters and 18 pieces of equipment were involved in putting out the fire, including two An-32P aircraft and one Mi-8 helicopter. At the same time, fire extinguishing is complicated by increased radiation background in certain areas, but there is no threat to settlements, the message said.
