Every fifth Ukrainian will not celebrate International Women's Day, - a poll
77% of Ukrainians intend to celebrate the holiday on March 8 this year, and 19% said they would not celebrate. This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Sociological Group "Rating" during February 21-25, 2020.
• For the majority of respondents (68%), the holiday of March 8 is a good reason to do something nice for loved ones. Relatively more often, the alternative was chosen by young people, residents of the East and South.
• 11% consider March 8 to be a normal day (since 2013, the number of such respondents has doubled). These are more often residents of the West. Interestingly, women (13%) share the statement about a regular day more often than men (8%).
• Only 9% consider this holiday a symbol of the struggle of women for their rights, and 8% speak of it as a holiday from the Soviet past. The latter statement is closer for older respondents.
• The majority of respondents (87%) do not support the idea of canceling the holiday on March 8 (in 2012 - 91%). Only 9% support the idea, more often in the West (18%), while even here the majority (73%) do not support such an initiative.
Interestingly, among men there are slightly more respondents who intend to celebrate March 8 than among women.
