EU invest 50 mln for Ukrainian decentralization
Ukrainian Minister for Regional Development, Construction, and Housing Hennadiy Zubko says the European Union will provide Ukraine with EUR 50 million for the further implementation of decentralization reform. The issue was discussed at a meeting of the Ukrainian minister with Head of the Support Group for Ukraine Peter Wagner and Head of Cooperation at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Stefan Schleuning, the ministry's press service said in a statement on December 19.
The European Union will allocate EUR 50 million for the implementation of the U-LEAD with Europe program, in particular, its second phase. "We continue successful cooperation under the U-LEAD project. The cooperation roadmap will remain the same, since the Ukraine-EU Agreement on cooperation under this project complies with the European Charter of Local Self-Government.
We, together with our international partners, will prepare an operational action plan for 2020 by late January 2019. Based on this plan, we'll propose the structure of the Central Reform Office. We have many new tasks to fulfill. In particular, the development of electoral legislation and cartographic works for modeling processes in regions," the press service quoted Zubko as saying.
