Drones with thermal imagers look for damage on heating lines in Kyiv
DroneUA has launched a pilot project to detect damage to Kiev's heating systems using drones.
Drones have thermal imagers that reflect hidden defects in pipes, damage to insulation and flooding of networks.
One team of drone operators can survey up to 50 kilometers of heating lines per day, recording all possible temperature variations and tying them to the coordinate system. Unlike land surveys, drones greatly accelerate the process.
The use of drones can reduce the risk of heat accidents and cut off heat during the heating season.
Similar technologies were used in other cities of Ukraine, in particular in Cherkasy. This year, Cherkasy public utilities bought a drone with a thermal imager for 150 thousand hryvnias, calculating that this amount is commensurate with the cost of untimely elimination of one pipe break.
