Zelensky congratulated the Emir of Kuwait on his 90th birthday
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated the Emir of Kuwait Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on his 90th anniversary.
The congratulatory text says: "Your whole life is an example of sincere and highly professional service to the people of Kuwait and the homeland." It also notes the role of the Arab country in many global humanitarian initiatives, including mediation.
"We express special gratitude for the support of the territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as for other issues that contribute to the support of international security," the text says.
The ascent to the throne in modern textbooks of political science is described as constitutional: Sabah Al-Sabah was not the heir to the throne. The family asked him to lead the country (the dynasty of al-Sabakhov has ruled Kuwait for many centuries) when it became clear that the previous head of state was not able to fulfill his duties for health reasons. The country's parliament voted for this appointment.
Now he is the oldest male monarch in the world.
