Ukraine in Arabic | Ukrainian - Iraqi business forum was held in Kiev
Kiev/ Ukraine in Arabic/ The forum was organized with the support of the Embassy of Iraq in Ukraine and the Department of trade and economic cooperation of the Ministry of economic development and trade of Ukraine.
From the Iraqi side, the forum was attended by member of the Board of the Federation of chambers of Commerce Abbas El Nouri, Ambassador extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Iraq in Ukraine SORS Khalid Saeed, Chairman of the Federation of chambers of Commerce and industry Kurdistan Azad Abdulkadir Karim, Director of import State of the company for the purchase of building materials Sabah Hashim Rosen and Deputy Director General for international relations of the Ministry of trade of Iraq.
Also participating in the event was taken by renowned Iraqi businessmen and officials who seek to strengthen the economic potential of his country thanks to the cooperation with Ukraine.
The moderator of the event was the President Trading-industrial chamber of Ukraine Gennadiy Chizhikov and his Deputy Valery King. According to them, the main interest of the Iraqi colleagues called the cooperation with Ukraine in the agricultural sector, imports of cereals, food products, products of metallurgical and chemical complexes, equipment for extraction, processing, transportation of oil and gas, etc.
However, according to the Ambassador SORS Khalid said, the possibility of cooperation between the Ukrainian and Iraqi business partners is significantly narrowed due to certain bureaucratic obstacles in the form of difficulties in obtaining visas for Iraqi businessmen, the lack of an established banking cooperation, is still inconsistent legislation, which would allow to avoid double taxation, inadequate awareness of the Ukrainian and Iraqi businessmen on the opportunities for cooperation. The diplomat noted and intensity of development of the Ukrainian-Iraqi business relations in the past five years. "In the last year, bilateral trade between Ukraine and Iraq has reached $ 800 million. When compared with 2010, this figure almost three more times," he said. The Ambassador assured that they are incredibly great potential of the Ukrainian-Iraqi business partnership.
Representatives of the Iraqi parties agreed that the Ukrainian-Iraqi business forum is an extremely important event in the economic life of both countries, and first Deputy Chairman of the Ukrainian-Iraqi business Council Alex Solonenko shared her observations about the business cooperation in various fields.
In Iraq there are many interesting proposals for our business and our business elite have something to show the other side. In addition, the development of partnership relations with Iraq is an excellent alternative to the development of economic relations with the countries of Europe and America. According to him, one of the most important tasks is to promote cooperation between Ukrainian and Iraqi businessmen directly, without intermediaries, as it was before, since neither the Ukrainian nor the Iraqi businessmen had no idea about the activities of their colleagues abroad. To do this, delegates also invited Ukrainian businessmen to organize on the territory of Iraq exhibition of their products. Taking into account the fact that 3 of the provinces of Iraq are now in a combat zone, it is obvious that Iraq, like Ukraine, is now interested in foreign direct investment.
