Ukraine in Arabic | The roundtable meeting of national minorities leaders held in Kiev
KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ On March 2nd, the roundtable meeting was held in the Mikom-Palace business center. The issues of associations of national communities, their rights, interests and plan activities were discussed at the meeting. The roundtable was attended by representatives of Arab, Tatar, Dagestani, Chechen, Turkmen, Crimean Tatar, Africa diasporas and members of The International Union public organization (IU).
During the meeting The News24ua site editor in chiefLudmila Bashikirova told about peoples living in Ukraine. According to her, they have equal rights with the titular nation. “One country – one right”, she said. She believes that it’s necessary to preserve their national and religious identity, while to help them with integration to Ukrainian society.
The lawyer Igor Gerasimov said that it’s necessary to promote cultural enrichment of peoples and to preserve the identity of small nations.
IU president Daniil Goncharov considers that it is necessary to improve the living conditions of small nations. He noted that the small nations do not want any privileges and wish equal rights.
"If we unite and work selflessly, we will achieve our goals", he said.
This idea was also supported by representatives of the African Council in Ukraine, Turkmen, Meskhetian Dagestani and other diasporas.
Within the meeting representatives of national communities were also told about work of the Legal Assistance Centre. Head of the Center Victor Kryzhanovsky said that his organization has five professional lawyers who provide assistance to foreigners.
"Qualified professionals are engaged in criminal, administrative, legal problems, We daily provide advice to members of national minorities, who face different kinds of problems in Ukraine", - said Kryzhanovsky.
