Ukraine in Arabic | Six parties to form Ukrainian parliament

Poroshenko Bloc will have the greatest number of seats in parliament

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ The Bloc of Petro Poroshenko will have the greatest number of seats in parliament according to preliminary calculations of the results of voting in a multi-member district and single-member electoral districts.

Meanwhile, six parties enter the Verkhovna Rada with 100% of ballots counted in Ukraine's early parliamentary elections.

Central Election Commission (CEC) Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky said this at a briefing on Saturday, a Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The overall result of political parties in the elections consists of the number of seats it received in the multi-member electoral district and single-member electoral districts," Okhendovsky said.

Thus, the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko will have most MPs in the Verkhovna Rada of the eighth convocation - 132, the People's Front - 82, and Samopomich Union - 33, the Opposition Bloc will have 29 deputies in the new parliament, the Radical Party - 22, and Batkivshchyna - 19.

In particular, the People's Front Party won 22.14% of the voter, the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko - 21.81%, Samopomich Union - 10.97%, the Opposition Bloc - 9.43%, the Radical Party - 7.44%, and Batkivschyna All-Ukrainian Union - 5.68%.

Svoboda, like all the other 23 parties that participated in the elections on party lists, failed to pass the 5% electoral threshold, gaining 4.71% of the vote.

The Communist Party of Ukraine (3.88%), Sergiy Tigipko's Strong Ukraine Party (3.11%), Anatoliy Hrytsenko's Civil Position Party (3.1%), Zastup All-Ukrainian Agrarian Union (2.65%), and the Right Sector Party (1.8%) also failed to make it to parliament.

All other parties collected less than 1% of the vote each.

The People's Front took the most vote in Volyn, Zhytomyr, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kyiv, Lviv, Poltava, Rivne, Ternopil, Khmelnytsky, Cherkasy and Chernivtsi regions, the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko - in Vinnytsia, Zakarpattia, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, Chernihiv regions and the city of Kyiv, and the Opposition Bloc - in Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Zaporizhia, Luhansk and Kharkiv regions.

Early parliamentary elections in Ukraine on October 26 were held under a mixed system. According to the law, 225 deputies had to be elected on party lists and 225 at single-member electoral districts.

In these elections 225 MPs will be elected on party lists, and each of the parties that overcame the 5% barrier will get the number of parliamentary seats proportional to the collected number of the vote.

No more than 198 deputies will be elected under the majority system, since the elections were not held in 27 electoral districts, among them 12 districts in the temporarily occupied territory of Crimea and 15 in the area of the anti-terrorist operation (nine constituencies in Donetsk region and six constituencies in Luhansk region).

The CEC should establish official election results on the basis of original protocols from district election commissions by November 10.

According to preliminary calculations of the voting results on party lists, the People's Front gets 64 seats in parliament, the Bloc of Petro Poroshenko - 63, Samopomich Union – 32, the Opposition Bloc – 27, the Radical Party – 22, and Batkivschyna - 17.
