Kiev/Ukraine in Arabic/ NATO has begun studying the new military doctrine of Russia, NATO Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Philip Breedlove said in Brussels after a meeting of NATO's Military Committee on Thursday, according to an UNIAN correspondent in Brussels.

"We must read what they write. The Russians write about what they think, what they can do," Breedlove said.

"The Chiefs of Defense of the NATO member countries during the meeting evaluated the new military doctrine of the Russian Federation so as to understand what consequences it will have," Chairman of the NATO Military Committee General Knud Bartels said.

Breedlove once again said that NATO was not a threat to Russia.

"Our goal is to restore the norms in Europe that were there for many years, and we will work constructively for the restoration of these norms, according to which we respect international boundaries and respect the sovereignty of states," he said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on December 26, 2014 the Russian Federation presented its new military doctrine.

According to the doctrine, the main threats to Russia are the buildup of NATO forces and destabilization in some regions.
