Ukraine in Arabic | Ban Ki-moon UN Secretary-General will visit Ukraine
Kiev/ Ukraine in Arabic/ UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will travel to Moscow to take part in Victory Day celebrations due on May 9, following his visit to Poland and Ukraine, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said, according to UN News Center.
He added that UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova would accompany UN Secretary-General during his visit.
On his way to Moscow, Ban Ki-moon will visit Gdansk, Poland, on May 7, to attend the commemoration ceremony dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the end of the World War II. He will also meet President Bronislaw Komorowski and other senior officials.
On Friday, May 8, Ban Ki-moon will visit Kyiv, Ukraine, to meet President Petro Poroshenko and other top officials, Dujarric said. UN top official comes back to new York on 10 May. Many Western leaders have rejected invitations to attend the events as a gesture of protest against Russia's annexation of Crimea and east Ukraine invasion.
