The largest mosque in Ukraine may appear in Kiev. The initiator of the construction of the religious structure was the Crimean Tatar community with the support of Turkey. Community leaders note that the project for a temple designed for 5 thousand people is already ready.

This was announced by MP of Ukraine, the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev in an interview with ATR.

“We did a great job with the search for land, but found nothing. And I am grateful to the oligarch Rinat Akhmetov, who gave us a plot that costs about $ 5 million. We notified Turkey about this, the projects are ready, the budget too. There were minor disagreements. Turkey insisted: you are planning a mosque for 10 thousand people, but in Kiev there is no such community. We answered: "But this is a mosque not only for Crimean Tatars, but also for all Muslims." In the end, they agreed to build a mosque for 5 thousand believers. And even this will be the largest mosque in Ukraine, ”said Dzhemilev.

According to him, the issue of housing construction for the Crimean Tatars, who were forced to leave Crimea and are unable to return home due to the persecution of the invaders, is also being addressed. They plan to build new apartments for Crimean Tatars in Dnipro, Kharkov, Odessa, Kherson and Lviv.

In Kiev, Dzhemilev specified, in connection with a sufficient real estate market, for the Crimean Tatars who were forced to leave the occupied peninsula, it is planned not to build, but to buy a home.
