Science Technology: KrAZ-7634NE military chassis embodies the idea of a four-axle vehicle
Science Technology experts commented on the news about AutoKrAZ’s deliveries of the first KrAZ-7634NE 8x8 military chassis. The announcement of this appeared on January 8.
Technical analyst of Science Technology Sergey Berezutsky said that KrAZ-7634NE leads its lineage from the project "Siberia" - one of the most interesting KrAZ developments from the Soviet era.
The "four-axle" car, which remained in the shadows, has finally become popular. A powerful and roomy machine can perform a variety of functions: repair and evacuate damaged machines, transport radars and anti-ship missile systems.
In addition, there are developments in the creation of the Poltava anti-aircraft missile system and the Hurricane high-capacity armored car based on this vehicle.
The "AutoKrAZ" company supplied KrAZ-7634NE 8x8 military chassis to the Ukrainian army for the first time. The announcement appeared on January 8.
According to the company, KrAZ-7634NE will be used for transportation weapons systems, such as the coastal missile system, antenna posts for ground-to-air missile systems, etc.
Also on the military chassis KrAZ-7634NE will be installed a new multi-purpose recovery system. It will combine the functions of repairing, towing and evacuating a stationary wheeled vehicle.
Unlike its predecessors, the new KrAZ 8 × 8 is equipped with a more powerful engine - 460 hp. - and an automatic transmission with a maximum torque calculated for 2500 N / m. This combination of engine and transmission with a through powertrain helps to achieve excellent performance. At the request of the customer the exhaust system is located between 1 and 2 axles, with the exhaust pipe pointing to the right, if you look in the direction of the vehicle. Instead of two rectangular tanks with a capacity of 350 liters, there are two round fuel tanks with a volume of 165 liters.
The length from back of cab to end of cabover vehicle frame is 8080 mm, minimum outside turning radius is 14 m. 1st and 2nd axles are steerable, all the axles are driven. Integral power steering helps decrease steering effort to 10 kgf, thus easing driver fatigue. This all-wheel drive vehicle can be extensively used for driving off road.
Height of ergonomic low mounted cab is 2800 mm (for reference: the height of the cab of the 8х6 KrAZ-7140Н6 is 3170 mm), this makes it possible to mount various special equipment on the cab roof. Wide windshield offers excellent visibility.
