Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a law recognizing Ukrainians and Belarusians as native speakers of Russian and exempting them from a special citizenship examination. It is reported by the press service of the President of Russia.

It is noted that Putin has signed the Federal Law "On Amendments to Article 331 of the Federal Law" On Citizenship of the Russian Federation ".

"The law stipulates that Ukrainians and Belarussians who are fluent in Russian, when applying for recognition as a native speaker of the Russian language, and if there are grounds, can be recognized by the commission as native speakers of the Russian language without having to undergo an interview. or their direct relatives are permanently resident or have previously resided in the territory of the Russian Federation or in the territory related to the Russian Empire or the USSR, within the state border of the Russian Federation, "the document states.

Currently, foreigners can be recognized as native speakers of the Russian language following an interview conducted by a profile committee. This status enables a person to obtain Russian citizenship in a simplified manner.
