President of Ukraine had a phone conversation with Prime minister of Italy
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a phone conversation with President of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Italy Giuseppe Conte.
The Head of State thanked Italy for supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, noting the importance of maintaining the regime of sanctions against Russia as an effective mechanism for ensuring the implementation of the Minsk Agreements by Moscow.
Giuseppe Conte congratulated Volodymyr Zelensky with a convincing victory in the elections.
The parties discussed the development of trade and economic relations between the two countries and interpersonal contacts. The President invited President of the Italian Republic to visit Ukraine.
The recent decision of the court of the city of Pavia to Vitaliy Markov on a charge of murder of Italian journalist Andrea Rocchelli in the Donbas in 2014 was also discussed.
The Head of State offered legal assistance to Ukraine in carrying out joint examination of the circumstances around the death of Andrea Rocchelli. He expressed concern about the unduly harsh decision of the court and underlined the importance of consideration of case by the Italian Court of Appeal.
