Libya denies news about the participation of Libyan mercenaries in the fight against Ukraine

The statement denied the authenticity of what was reported by the media that there are Libyan mercenaries fighting on the Russian side in Ukraine.
The text of the statement stated: "The Committee to secure the return of the Libyan Community in Ukraine has followed up the news circulated by some social networks and pages about Russian Federation's recruitment of mercenaries from the State of Libya to participate in the fight against friendly Ukraine.
Referring to the depth of the historical friendship relations between the Libyan and Ukrainian peoples, it expresses its full solidarity with the friendly country in overcoming its ordeal, and prays to God to grant it immediate stability.
Thus, the committee, in the name of the Government of National Unity, refutes what was reported on the social media pages and networks, and at the same time confirms that this news is completely false, it also disclaims responsibility for any shameful act by people who do not represent the Libyan state".
It should be noted that the Ukrainian newspapers circulated news about the elimination of a group of Libyan mercenaries in the Popasna region in the south of the country.
