Ukraine's Embassy in Tbilisi is actively working on preparations for an official visit by Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili to Ukraine, Ukraine's Ambassador to Georgia Ihor Dolhov has told Georgia Online.

"Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili's visit to Kyiv for the inauguration of President Volodymyr Zelensky in June this year, as well as the meetings of the leaders of Ukraine and Georgia in Warsaw and New York in September, were important for the development of the top-level dialogue.

The Ukrainian side is interested in maintaining such high dynamics of meetings between the presidents and in deepening the dialogue. We are actively working on preparations for Salome Zurabishvili's official visit to Ukraine," he said.

Dolhov added that Kyiv hopes Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia will take part in the meeting of the prime ministers of GUAM countries in Kyiv on December 12.

He also said that as part of the meeting, a business forum would be held so as to give participants an opportunity to discuss ways to develop trade and economic relations and make specific decisions aimed at increasing trade and improving the conditions for doing business.

The ambassador noted that over the first nine months of 2019, Ukraine and Georgia maintained trade turnover at last year's level of almost $475 million, and there is considerable potential for an increase in this area.
