350 Ukrainian saplings were planted in the Park of Ukrainian-Jordanian Friendship
On March 26, 2017 in the framework of the celebration the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the 203rd Anniversary of Taras Shevchenko’s (Great Ukrainian Poet) birthday 350 Ukrainian saplings (bushes and trees) were planted in the Park of Ukrainian-Jordanian Friendship, which is located between Taras Shevchenko street and Abu Eisha Mosque (along Airport road).
Ambassador of Ukraine and spouse, staff of Ukrainian Embassy and their families, employees of the Parks Administration of the Greater Amman Municipality, Ukrainian community and Jordanian citizens planted 100 saplings of Common lilac (Syringa vulgaris L.), 50 – Ginkgo biloba (Maidenhair tree – included to IUCN Red List), 50 – Pinus pallasiana (Black pine), 50 – Aesculus hippocastanum (Horse chestnut), 50 – Robinia pseudoacacia, 20 – Platanus acerifolia (London planetree), 15 – Cydonia oblonga (Quince) and 15 – Cornus mas (European cornel).
The Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan expresses gratitude to Director of the National Botanic Garden named after M.M.Hryshko Mrs. N.Zaimenko and Deputy Director Mr. M.Shumyk for free providing of high quality saplings (trees) for planting in the Park Ukrainian-Jordanian friendship in Amman.
The Embassy of Ukraine in Jordan also expresses thanks for transportation: UMAir and representative of company Mr. Meouchy Charbel, Mr. Mohammad Amro and his family, Mr. Ramzi Haddad; preparation of landscape: Leadership and employees of the Parks Administration of the Greater Amman Municipality Mr. Mohammad al-Qteish and Mr. Moin Zreikat; and planting saplings: Ukrainian and Jordanian communities. Now Northern part of Park (which was planted in 2015-2016 years) united with Central and Southern parts of the Park. Total area of the Park is about 1 hectare.
This event, which took place just 25 days before the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between two countries is one more confirmation of very friendly relations between Ukraine and Jordan.
