President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a meeting with National Security Advisor of the United States John Bolton.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky had a meeting with National Security Advisor of the United States John Bolton.

The meeting was dedicated to the priority measures aimed to strengthen the strategic partnership between Ukraine and the United States, in particular the preparation of bilateral negotiations at the level of heads of state.

The parties discussed the possibilities of deepening Ukrainian-American cooperation in the fields of security and defense, energy security, as well as in reforming the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the Ukrainian defense industry.

Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the American party for a strong support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, consistent official policy as regards Crimea and efforts aimed at reaching progress in the peaceful settlement in Donbas.

The President of Ukraine is hopeful that the U.S. will be more involved in the negotiation process regarding Donbas. He noted that Ukraine would welcome the accession of the United States to the Normandy format.

Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized the importance of the consolidated position of the United States and other partners of Ukraine for ensuring the release of Ukrainian sailors and other illegally detained citizens.
