It is only response on russians bans and same measures

Ukrainian goverment going to extend restriction on Russian imports as response on the same measures by Russian Federation, which introduced wide bans.

"Ukrainian products have been subject to unilateral import duties set at the level of the EurAsEC [Eurasian Economic Community] common customs tariff. In addition, the Russian Federation suspended the free trade area agreement within the CIS for Ukraine," it said.

According to the ministry, the decision to prolong the effect of Ukrainian customs duties on Russian goods is part of complex measures to courter Russia's economic aggression against Ukraine. Moreover, Ukraine continues demanding the cancellation of unlawful Russian restrictions within the framework of the World Trade Organization.

As being reported earlier, Ukraine's Cabinet in December 2015 introduced duties on Russian imports. The Ukrainian government also banned some groups of Russian goods, including foods, chemicals and railway equipment. The then Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk described the duties as "tit-for-tat measures" against the unlawful trade restrictions imposed by Russia in December 2015 for Ukraine's determination to introduce the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement (DCFTA) between Ukraine and the European Union. The agreement became effective from January 1, 2016.
