Ukraine reports 35 enemy attacks, 1 KIA, 4 WIA's in last day
Russia's hybrid military forces attacked Ukrainian army positions in Donbas 35 times in the past 24 hours, with one Ukrainian soldier reported as killed in action (KIA) and four as wounded in action (WIA), according to the press service of the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) Headquarters.
From 18:00 and almost until midnight, the militants opened fire from mortars, grenade launchers and infantry fighting vehicles on the Ukrainian fortified positions near the village of Starohnativka in the Mariupol sector. In addition, the enemy used a tank and launched at least 16 artillery shells of a 152mm caliber. As a result of these attacks, one Ukrainian soldier was wounded. However, the situation was most tense near the Avdiyivka industrial zone this night. From 18:00 Kyiv time, the occupiers shelled the Ukrainian defenders five times, using mortars and various types of grenade launchers. The Ukrainian units had to fire back.
"Unfortunately, one Ukrainian soldier was killed and another one was injured as a result of these confrontations. Moreover, yesterday, violating the ceasefire during the work of representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross, the Russian-backed militants opened fire on civilian houses in the village of Zaitseve, which is in the Donetsk sector. A fire broke out almost immediately. The Ukrainian military, who came to help the locals put out the fire, came under militant fire.
However, realizing that the enemy purposefully provokes the confrontation, our fighters did not open fire in response, since the civilians live in the occupied part of the village, as well as representatives of humanitarian organizations work there," the ATO HQ said. In the Luhansk sector, the Ukrainian fortified positions in the villages of Novo-Oleksandrivka and Novozvanivka came under grenade launcher fire at the end of the day.
