Ukraine in Arabic | The world's tallest twin towers to be built in Dubai

The masterplan will contain a dedicated retail precinct, pedestrian walkways and The Dubai Twin Towers, an iconic mixed-use development billed to be the tallest twin towers in the world

KYIV/Ukraine in Arabic/ Dubai is aiming for another notch in the tallest stakes by building what would be the world’s tallest twin towers.

The towers are due to be located at The Lagoons, the master-development taking shape near the Creek.

They will be included in a multi-million project known as Dubai Creek Harbour conducted by developer Emaar Properties and investment firm Dubai Holding.

Located within the two partners’ joint master development, Mohammed bin Rashid City (MBR City), the project will be officially launched on November 1 in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, London and Moscow and will be the first residences located in Dubai Creek Harbour, offering views over the harbour and Dubai skyline.

‘Dubai Creek Harbour at The Lagoons’ will be developed on an open site and is expected to be larger than Downtown Dubai in terms of magnitude.

The two apartment buildings being constructed first are set to cost around AED3 billion ($817 million).

Dubai Creek Residences will include six towers – two of which will be 40-storeys in height - with a variety of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments that will have unit area ranging between 880 – 2,154 square feet.

The masterplan will contain a dedicated retail precinct, pedestrian walkways and The Dubai Twin Towers, an iconic mixed-use development billed to be the tallest twin towers in the world.

At present, the Petronas Twin Towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, at 452m and 88 floors hold the record for the tallest twin towers in the world.

The Emirates Park Towers, otherwise known as the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai Hotel, come in second at 395m and 77 floors, while third in the current rankings are Jumeirah Emirates Towers, at 354m and up to 56 floors.

Located minutes from the Ras Al Khor Bird Sanctuary, which contains a mangrove ecosystem with migratory birds and flamingoes, the new urban area will have an integrated transportation system, environmentally sustainable ecosystems and green open parks spread across a land area of 6 million square metres.

Mohamed Alabbar, chairman of Emaar Properties, said: “The Dubai Creek is the cradle of our heritage and the lifeline that steered Dubai’s growth. Dubai Creek Residences takes residents to the very source of Dubai’s history and provides them a modern, luxurious, living environment. The project is a true tribute to the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to create a dynamic city of the future that integrates smart networks, while building on the cultural heritage of our city.”

Ahmad Bin Byat, chief executive officer of Dubai Holding, said: “Dubai Creek Harbour by The Lagoons is a historic development that aligns with the future goals of our city, led by the visionary leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. With the Dubai Creek Residences, the first project in the mega Dubai Creek Harbour at The Lagoons development, we are bringing a lifestyle choice that is unprecedented in the city.”

The launch of Dubai Creek Residences will be held on a first-come first-served basis on November 1, 2014 in four locations: Emaar Pavilion on Mohammed Bin Rashid Boulevard, in Dubai, at 2pm; in Abu Dhabi, at 2pm; in London at Four Seasons Hotel London at Park Lane, at 10am; and in Moscow at Ritz-Carlton, Moscow, at 1pm.
