Ukraine in Arabic | The UN Security Council expanded sanctions against Houthis in Yemen

The UN Security Council approved on Tuesday, April 14, a resolution on the extension of sanctions against the rebel Houthis in Yemen.

Kiev/ Ukraine in Arabic/ According to euronews, the leaders of the militia imposed personal sanctions; the rebels also now prohibited to supply weapons and military equipment.

The project put to the vote the United Kingdom, Jordan and the USA. Almost all the members of the security Council, or rather 14 countries supported the resolution, while Russia abstained.

Permanent representative of the Russian Federation Vitaly Churkin said that the alternatives to overcome the crisis in Yemen political methods do not exist. "We expect a more robust UN action on restarting political negotiations between all parties to the Yemeni conflict. This work should begin immediately - including drawing upon the existing significant developments, " said Churkin.

According to him, the resolution "inadequately formulated sanctions component" in particular, Moscow insisted on an embargo against all parties to the armed conflict, not only against the Hussites; and in addition, the document "is not clearly calls for the establishment of a "humanitarian pauses" during the bombing.
