Potential for cooperation between Ukraine and Pakistan is promising, - Umerov
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Pakistan to Ukraine Zahid Mobashir Sheikh received at the embassy of the People's Deputy of Ukraine delegate of the Kurultai of the Crimean Tatar people Rustem Umerov. The parties discussed the prospects and ways of developing bilateral relations between Ukraine and Pakistan in various fields.
The ambassador and his deputy informed Rustem Umerov about the most important difficulties faced by the growth of economic cooperation between Pakistan and Ukraine, highly appreciating the hospitality of the Ukrainian people and the enormous potential of the two countries, as well as calling for the need to work towards achieving a more accessible visa system for Pakistani citizens ... Here he noted that the visa system is one of the obstacles on the way of Pakistani investors to the Ukrainian market.
In turn, MP Umerov informed Zahid Mobashir Sheikh about repeated human rights violations by the Russian occupants on the Crimean peninsula against the citizens of Ukraine, thanking Pakistan for its position in the United Nations General Assembly in support of the unity and territorial integrity of Ukraine. Umerov stressed that the Crimean Tatar people are the indigenous people of Ukraine.
He also expressed support for the need to work to develop bilateral cooperation between Islamabad and Kiev by organizing high-level visits, as well as the need to discuss investment projects from both sides. In addition to closer cooperation at the international level, especially within the framework of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Ukraine wants to obtain observer status.
Both sides agreed on the importance of systematic bilateral meetings, as well as the need for consultations between the inter-parliamentary groups of the two states.
Deputy Rustem Umerov announced that the first meeting of the interdepartmental working group, created in the Security and National Defense Council of Ukraine, was held under his chairmanship. Here he noted that Pakistani experience in the fight against terrorism and in ensuring international security is important for Ukraine.
At the end of the meeting, Ambassador Zahid Mobashir Sheikh expressed gratitude to Rustem Umerov for the visit, and also noted that after completing his diplomatic mission in our country, he will become a "goodwill ambassador" of Ukraine in his homeland.
Note that earlier Rustem Umerov congratulated Saudi Arabia on the National Day.
