Over 1.5 mln foreign tourists visited ukranian capital
The number of foreign tourists visiting Kyiv city in January-September 2019 grew by 26.6% compared with the relevant period in 2017.
The Tourism and Promotion Department of the Kyiv City State Administration posted a relevant report on its Facebook page.
"According to the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, over the first nine months of 2019, 1,550,300 foreign tourists visited Kyiv, which is 26.6% more than over the relevant period in 2017 (1,224.3 people)," reads the report.
The largest number of foreign guests came from Belarus, Israel, the USA, Germany, Turkey, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Poland, Lithuania, France, Italy, Azerbaijan, China, Georgia, the Netherlands, and Kazakhstan.
It is also noted that the number of foreign tourists from India, Canada and Sweden grew over the reporting period, while those from Azerbaijan and the Netherlands decreased.
As for domestic tourists, about 2 million people visited Kyiv, according to expert estimates.
As of November 27, 2019, revenues from tourist tax reached UAH 61.34 million.
