Almost 41% of Ukrainians consider joining NATO the best option for guaranteeing Ukraine's security.
This is evidenced by results of the poll conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation jointly with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As noted, 40.9% of respondents support Ukraine’s accession to NATO, 35.9% prefer non-aligned status, while 7.4% of Ukrainians believe that a military alliance with Russia and other CIS countries would be the best security guarantee for the country.
Sociologists remind that only 13% of Ukrainian citizens regarded joining NATO as the best security guarantee in April 2012.

The nationwide public opinion poll was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation jointly with the Kyiv International Institute of Sociology from August 8 to August 20, 2019. The poll was conducted in 103 populated localities in all regions of Ukraine except the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and militant-controlled areas of Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

A total of 2,040 respondents aged over 18 years old were interviewed. The sampling error does not exceed 2.3%.
