In Kyiv the 2th Saudi-Ukrainian Agrarian Business Forum opening
On Thursday, Nov28, the 2th Saudi-Ukrainian Agrarian Business and Investment Forum was held in Kyiv.
This event attracted dozens of Arab businessmen to the who see good prospects for our agricultural business in Ukraine and beyond.
The forum opened with discussion panels was organized at the “Fairmont Grand Hotel” in Kyiv by the Saudi agricultural and investment company “SALIC-Ukraine”, which owns a land bank in the world on 210 thousand hectares and is a combined company formed on the basis of the assets of Mriya Agroholding and Continental Farmers Group - Continental Farmers Group.
Forum was supported by the Council of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce and the Saudi Embassy in Ukraine.
“I am glad to be in beautiful Kiev. Our company SALIC demonstrates faith in the agricultural sector of Ukraine. Cereals and food in general are of particular interest. This forum is interesting because Ukraine has great potential for the development of the agricultural business and has set a course to open its market. ”General maneger of SALIC, Mr. Khaled Al-Abudi Said. “Saudi Arabia has long partnerships with Ukraine and not only in agribusiness. Our strategic partnership needs to be developed and deepened. ” Deputy Minister of Agriculture of KSA Ahmed Saleh Ayada al-Hamshi.
The Forum attracted the attention of Ukrainian officials and team of Ukranian President Vladimir Zelensky.
Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture of Ukraine Timofey Milovanov. In particular, he said that the new team is aimed at the rapid implementation of economic reforms, where special attention is paid to the agricultural sector.
The President of Ukraine proposed holding a referendum on the possibility of acquiring land by foreigners. I think that in a few months we will be able to move forward on the land issue, ”said Milovanov.
when carrying out the planned reforms, the economy of Ukraine will develop according to an optimistic scenario, which will give in 2020 a GDP growth of 3.7% -4.8%. “Today we have investments at the level of $ 1.3 billion. Opening the land market will lead to an increase in investments". said Milovanov.
During Forum, representatives of the Ukrainian government separately emphasized that in the near future the land market will open, which should make Ukraine also an attractive aim for investment.
