EU Ambassador recalled that residents of Crimea can obtain a Schengen visa in Ukraine, not in Russia

He noted that residents of Crimea have the opportunity to obtain a Schengen visa

Russian passports issued in Crimea are not accepted when applying for a Schengen visa, residents of the region can get it at the consulates of the EU countries in Ukraine, EU Ambassador to Russia Markus Ederer said in an interview with Intrefax

“The European Union did not and does not recognize the illegal annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol by Russia. This means that Russian passports issued in Crimea by the Russian authorities after the annexation are not recognized or accepted when applying for a Schengen visa, "Ederer said.

He noted that residents of Crimea have the opportunity to obtain a Schengen visa.

“This requires either a passport issued by the Russian authorities before the illegal annexation, or a Ukrainian passport. In any case, residents of Crimea must apply for a visa at the consulates of the EU countries located in Ukraine, not in Russia,” the EU ambassador added.
