Border guards noticed that smuggled tobacco products were being transferred from Moldova to Ukraine As reported in the State Border Service, the incident happened on November 21 at about 23:00 near the settlement of Hvizdivka in Sokyryany district.
Border guards noticed that smuggled tobacco products were being transferred from Moldova to Ukraine and loaded into a foreign car.
After realizing that they had been exposed, the smugglers tried to flee in their cars. When tried to apprehend them, the offenders aimed the car at the border guards. They opened fire. The car with the smugglers went in the direction of Hvizdivtsi.
Border guards reported the incident of Ukrainian and Moldovan militiamen.
Shortly after, another police unit reported that three civilians had been shot in the central district hospital with gunshot wounds.
