Abbas urges U.S. to intefere in conflict over "Al-Aqsa"
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on the US to persuade the Israeli authorities to remove metal detectors from the entrances to the Temple Mount.
Otherwise, he said, the situation that has aggravated in the historical part of Jerusalem can become "explosive".
He said this during a telephone conversation with US presidential adviser and son-in-law Jared Kushner. "President Abbas asked the administration of the United States and President Donald Trump to intervene urgently and persuade Israel to abandon measures against the Al-Aqsa mosque, including dismantling the electronic framework," the presidential administration said.
Recall that today in the historical part of Jerusalem unprecedentedly strengthened security measures - the Israeli authorities are afraid of new clashes of Muslims with the police, and therefore today the Temple Mount closed the entrance for Muslims under 50 years old.
