Thu, 19.01.2017 09:22

The average temperature in the world in 2016 reached a record high within history of meteorological observations, reports BBC referring to the space agency NASA.

According to it, the average temperature of the earth's surface and the ocean in 2016 was 0.94 degrees Celsius above the average temperature in the XX century and by about 0.1 degrees higher than the average 2015 temperature. Thus, last year broke records of 2015 and 2014, becoming the third most hottest year.

According to the researchers, the cause of such high temperature is the greenhouse gases and oceanic phenomenon El Niño.
